Located centrally in the North Island, Tokoroa is 45 minutes drive from Rotorua, 50 minutes from Lake Taupo, 1 hour from Tauranga's surf beaches, 70 minutes from Hamilton and 2.5 hours from Auckland International Airport. Within 1 hours drive you can access some of the most exhilarating outdoor activities ranging from lake, river and mountain activities, snow skiing, glow worm caves and rafting and trout fishing on the nearby hydrolakes.

A great opportunity in a rural setting for:

* Medical Officer, registered or eligible for registration in New Zealand, or a

* Senior Medical Officer on the pathway to vocational registration with the Division of Rural Hospital Medicine.

We would like to hear from you if you have experience in Emergency Medicine and General Medicine to join our friendly team at Tokoroa Hospital. 70% of the workload is Emergency Department related and 30% involves managing an inpatient ward with weekly oversight from a visiting general physician. The Emergency Department covers the local Primary Care sector from 2000hrs to 0800 hrs daily.

The Emergency Department sees just under 10,000 patients per annum with an admission rate of 11% and a transfer rate (to Waikato Hospital) of about 5%. On average, a Medical Officer could expect to work for 41 hours per week (morning or afternoon shift), with some on-call averaging 14 hours per week.
